Community Action

I, Sophie Smith, along with the Right Direction Party, believe that we cannot sit back and watch while the Earth is slowly destroyed.  Something must be done.  At the moment, in our lifetimes, this planet is all we have.  Myself, and my party are commited to take action against these shadowy threats of pollution, global warming, and destruction.

We strive to be true to our word, and not make empty promises.  With that statement, we ourselves will step up and make the first steps toward a cleaner campus.  Every bit helps, when it comes to changing the world.

If life is full of hatred and violence, it will take that little bit from everyone to change.  Every state, city, town, school, and why not start here?

There are so many chances to become involved in community, and reach out to those around us using the core Quaker values we have been taught.  If we are elected, more opportunities will be given to lend a helping hand.  Just down the street is the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, where project time groups go to learn and share experiences with the students.  Though we will never know exactly what this is like for them, we can connect.  Reaching out can be as small as a smile, or as large as saving a life.  If the Right Direction Party would assume office, we would create more opportunities for this kind of community action.

We believe that animals have the right to be happy and healthy, as much as humans do. We have domesticated them; it is only fair that we take care of them, now that they need us.  Animal abuse is not a laughing matter.  It is truly sad and horrible.  In our community, we can take the steps to help these creatures in need of love.

Most of you have heard of a man named Aesop, famous for his fables, mostly regarding animals and their wisdom.  His words are still remembered today, for their morals and lessons.  One of his most famous passages is this: “No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted.”  If we take this piece of wisdom to heart- if we are willing to reach out, to be kind, we will receive kindness in return.  The Right Direction Party will always be kind and compassionate to you, and be considerate of each and every one of your views.  With the Right Direction Party, you will always have a choice.

Fundraiser

The Right Direction Party is having a fundraiser for the SPCA in Pennsylvania. SPCA is a local animal rescue that not only rescues animals, but makes their lives better. We believe in animal rights as well as animal rescue, so that is why we are donating to the SPCA. If you wish to contribute, give your money to James Pickering, Peter Bixler, Sophie Smith, Hannah Bromely, or Carley Felzer and we will be sure to donate it. Vote for the Right Direction!

Moving In The Right Direction

Hello fellow students of GFS. I come before you and look firmly in your eyes, and I ask you this, have you ever asked yourself during the many hours of classes that you go through in the day, “What change does this world need to achieve peace, prosperity and agreement?” Other parties will try to get your vote by giving you food, posting their advertisements and posters all over every surface in the school.

Comrades! I speak to the GFS community and I address you as a whole, the authentic School of GFS, and the great school that it is, no matter where we are, we fight for our dreams, on the soccer pitch and in the yarnell auditorium for final exams we fight for our dreams. Other parties will tell you the same things as they bribe you to vote for them with food and money.

My party however will not try to force you to vote for us with candy or cookies. We will ask you to if you believe that we stand for the right stuff and if you believe in our foundations. As we pass through the happy beginning of school and enter the trough of despair which is in between the start of school and winter break, I ask you to make the right choice and vote for our party, for it will send our great school in the right direction. In the direction of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

The Arts

The Right Direction Party represents you.  We believe in the freedom of expression,  and we believe in the arts.  So many politicians today do not share this opinion; they believe that the arts are expendable and that there are more important things to be taken care of.  But I ask you, what can be more important than expression?  Without expression, everyone would be the same, and the world would be uniform, dull, and without excitement.  There would be only one party, the party of despondency and despair.  The arts are an outlet for the very expression that makes us each unique. There are so many wonderful forms that contribute to today’s flourishing society.

There are arts in each of you, whether it is singing or dancing, writing or painting, acting or sculpting, and you have the freedom to choose what you like. The Right Direction party will give you that choice in all things.  We will support the arts, among other things such as women’s rights, animal rights, and environmental change.  Vote for the Right Direction Party, and you will always have a choice!
